Today we are sending out a call for applications to participate in the first ever City Kid Song Circle. The Song Circle will be a safe place to share and get feedback on new songs and works-in-progress in the Halifax area. Our workshop will meet in person three times (once in January, February, and March) and then gather for a ticketed concert showcase in April where we will share our new compositions for a live audience.
To apply, please fill out this google form. Applications are due on December 29, 2024.
If you are a songwriter (of any experience) and live in the Halifax area, this workshop is for you. We will have very limited space, so if you are interested, I encourage you to apply soon. We hope this Song Circle will be a regularly returning initiative of the City Kid Songwriters, which is a new collective here in Halifax. We started the City Kid Songwriters back in September when we hosted our first songwriter’s showcase. It was a magical evening and reminded me of how important a safe and nurturing environment is to budding creative endeavours. That’s what I hope the Song Circle will be all about. We will not be in the business of judging our songs (whether they are “bad” or “good”). All a song needs to do is be, and to be is a good thing. Our question will be how to explore the goodness of each song as it comes into its own and becomes present in the world.
Applications are available here until December 29. I can’t wait to be a part of this!
